I like taking pictures! Here is why....

I recently bought a new camera, a Canon Digital Rebel XT and a Sigma EX f/1.4 30mm lense. So far I am having a ball with it. Really though, the reason I like taking pictures is not that I like playing with complex camera stuff (that actually just gets in the way). The reason I like taking pictures is that it helps me live in the moment. So often, at least I, walk around with my head down thinking about what I have to do next, what follows that, and so on. If I make an effort though to look for "good pictures" around me then I start listening to that little feeling that tweeks you when you see something beautiful. And yes, tweek is the best word I can come up with. The less I ignore the tweek, the more it becomes a lurch and eventually it becomes easy to see, appreaciate, and admire the beauty that is around me (even in central Indiana...).
